About the project

The Alma Revamp Project also included dismantling of equipment from the Cinclare Factory and relocating to the Alma site. All of this work was design built with no drawings or pre-engineering prior to the award date. Engineering and design was performed throughout the project with a lot of interface between the client and Pala. The goal was to double the client’s sugar producing capacity. The project started on February 2, 2006 and had to be completed by September 8, 2006 so that cane grinding could start on September 11, 2006. With an aggressive schedule in place to meet the deadline and the added 235% scope of  work increase at the Alma location, we finished the project on time and under our original and estimated extra scope of work budget.

The facility started up with a leak free and no downtime due to mechanical equipment or piping installed by Pala during the course of the project.  Production expectations were beat by 25%.    The project was completed injury free in a hazardous environment for dismantling and re installation.
